I reckon your weather tomorrow could well be coming from my neck of the woods, mate. We got about two inches of snow overnight before it turned into a deep freezer. Woke up this morning to white landscapes everywhere but close to minus ten, too. It will get a bit warmer later on and as well tomorrow they say but then by the beginning of the week-end they predict more snow. Apparently there is now an 80% chance (or risk depending on how you look at it, of course) for a white Christmas this year. Am wearing one of my beloved bubble hats today Very Happy

Aye, i'm watching your weather closely alex as ours will be coming from the East in the next couple of days. If it's cold for you, by the time the wind crosses the North Sea it is greatly modified, and becomes unstable as it hits the North East coast. There will be showers, it's only really a matter of whether they fall as sleet or snow at the moment. Appreciate the update.

I keep an eye on a webcam in Rovaniemi, Finland whenever conditions are cold and from the east. The river is frozen there and temps were about -16 degC when I looked this morning.  shivering

Heavy Snow 1600 Thu 17 0800 Fri 18
Snow showers will become heavy at times and lead to some significant accumulations during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning, with 5 to 10 cm expected in places, and as much as 15 cm over some hills.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

left the house at 7am - but took about 15 minutes to get the car sorted...as there was was about 3 inches of snow...

but what I've said in the past was confirmed as true - durham council are crap...the A68 (from tow law towards consett) was covered in snow - couple of inches, but with tyre tracks made from traffic...it was ok to drive that as it wasn't icy, but when I got into castleside (consett) you hit the border between county durham and northumberland and then all of the sudden the roads were clear as anything...! so, obviously a plough had been and turned around in castleside then went back towards corbridge...

in those kind of conditions you don't really need grit - but just a plough to come along and shift the snow...

as last year whislt driving to peterlee - the roads were bad at shincliff (and along the a181) - and the traffic were gridlocked...it was the same coning back that evening despite little or no snow falling during the day...

and as someone already mentioned - they can only afford to do 10 full runs of grit...ffs...

There are signals coming through that there could be a real outbreak of winter cold around about the middle of December. It could be the return of The Beast from The East !

 shivering

Well done that man !       clap

Some people just don't know how to drive in snow. Last night we had a freakish hour of snow in the village. There is a bank.

I understand the fella with his wife and 11 month old not wanting to go on until ploughs come through, sensible really. but when I and various other villagers came out to help move people on (so ploughs could come through), many wanted to leave their cars in the road and others with a push revved the teets off the their cars.

One fella I said 'just low throttle mate, pull away in 2nd' and he went mad in first...
