Spennymoor Town Hall Art Gallery exhibition
« on: July 18, 2011, 02:15:25 PM »
Its been on my TO DO list for a week and this afternoon I spent an hour in a magical place

Ok its only a small collection and maybe paintings / art is not everyones cup of tea

But its a place I would never see if the gallery wasn't open and its free and inviting  ( maybe a few this way signs might help too )

I stood in front of a Norman Cornish  painting of Ferryhill pit     and was  totally blown away

Then in another room other artists  / scenes  as well as more Cornish

My favourite..........    Children crossing the road at Clems the Fish shop zebra crossing  I assume from Rosa street school

I think it was as its still relevant today..   nothing much has changed     just felt like a coming home moment

All the Pit art was good,  but as most of it doesn't exist now , it was more history than reality
It did show how pit life was tough and how the way people got to work and how it was  ....  the norm

I enjoyed it

worth a visit,  if your in Spennymoor  after 12pm  for a look

I'm related to Norman. He's a cousin, twice removed.
