Is anyone aware of the existence of this magnificent bridge? It is located upriver from Finchale Priory, and carried a waggonway which connected the Leamside line with the LNER main line.

I travelled once from Fencehouses to Durham by train, and would have crossed it, but I don't remember it. I "discovered" it when birdwatching at Brasside Ponds before they built Frankland Prison, and had forgotten all about it until I found this site. I think many people will be amazed when they see it. It is barred at either end, so can't be crossed on foot.

I actually went down there on saturday for the very forst time - depsite driving up and down the a68 (and seeing signs for it) loads of times!  Very Happy
