All hell on at the moment in Consett over the siting of the new academy. Lib Dem and Labour at each others throats.
Regular public meetings. Never known such excitement.  Laughing

I hope it doesnt  get built with imported steel from Poland  that wouldnt go down too well ?

Bit like the new Bio mass plant  Ensus at Wilton ,   built with Ukraine steel...   shaped and fabricated in France and shipped to Uk

Sadly most steel was of bad quality, and was mishapen and had to be cut out and renewed which made the job longer

Loads of new Academy type buildings getting built...  at the end of the day its the teachers whom job it is to learn students

and it needs dedicated students to learn to make it a success

Our goverment have an idea...  good or bad , and think that throwing more money at it will solve the problem

With the amount of protests going on they could have invented something other than steel . I've lived here all my life and apart from the steelworks closure in 1980 can't remember as much fuss. A lot of it is as usual political point scoring mind with each group having its own hardline supporters and the ex-councilors from the now defunk Derwentside D.C each putting their two pennith in it is a welcome source of amusement to the likes of me sitting on the fence.

One thing never changes as this present circus shows, two vital ingredients to be a good councilor.
Good liar and a short memory. Laughing

Nothing happened as of late barring a number of rather vocal public meetings but one group lead by the local lib dem has appealed for the proposed site to get village green status, this will delay it by 18 months they reckon.
