A couple of weeks ago my computer starting beeping and booping, sometimes only a little but sometimes it seems to be going crazy. Tonight, it started opening up my email page and bringing up the page which asks if I want to shut down or restart the computer, by itself.

I use a wireless keyboard and have noticed the dongle in the back of the computer flashes when it is beeping.

Does anyone know what is wrong, please?

Seems possible. If you can't change the frequency then you may have to change the keyboard.

What is the point of a wireless keyboard?

If you always sit close to your PC, they're no advantage whatsoever. Wireless mice are much more advantageous, as they eliminate the annoying drag sometimes created by the cable.

Thanks for your replies. I have no idea how to change the frequency. Could you please help me out with that? Thanks.

I use a wireless mouse to prevent drag, as said (although it keeps freezing so often change to a wired mouse).

I use a wireless keyboard because I can sit a little way off from the computer and put the keyboard on my knee. It also frees up a usb port - only 1 dongle instead of 2 cables.

Because the wireless doesn't kick in until after the point where the BIOS is accessed, for which you need the keyboard.  Wink
